|Company:||Fisher & Paykel|
Here at Fisher & Paykel Appliances, we design with people in mind and the lives lived around our products. We aim to create moments of delight together in the heart of the home, sustainably enhancing the quality of people's lives, now and for future generations.
Fisher & Paykel Appliances design, manufacture, and market a full range of human-centered appliances. We are a global company built on a heritage of innovation and pioneering spirit that has seen us consistently deliver products tailored to our customer's needs since 1934.
To design and build the best appliances, our Product Development function must be optimised to meet the demands of our growing business.
This is where you come in...
As a Product Safety and Compliance Engineer, you will be influential at the frontend of the design process along with the design team to ensure that our products are inherently safe and comply with the required safety standards and other regulatory requirements, therefore enabling them to be sold within a variety of global markets.
Developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of appliance regulatory requirements will be key along with coordinating testing with internal and external test laboratories for a range of appliances.
At times you will be expected to lead the internal testing by doing this testing yourself. You'll also be a stickler for ensuring processes are followed and documentation is completed.
In addition to the above activity, you'll also find yourself liaising, training, and supporting product development and third-party manufacturers and suppliers; as well as being the conduit between these groups and the regulatory authorities and test laboratories.
So who are you?
You are the kind of person who inherently understands that safety is critical and you know the importance of complying with regulatory safety requirements. You'll get personal satisfaction at knowing that what you do in your role ensures products can be sold in the market within agreed timeframes.
You love nothing more than seeing projects and tasks through to the end without compromising either your own personal standards or the standards the company needs to adhere to. Put simply, you get things done and you get them done right.
To be this kind of person, you are naturally organised, thorough, accurate, a stickler for detail and you don't have a 'too hard basket'. Your written and verbal communication skills are second to none as are your excellent reading comprehension skills. You'll understand what the "important work" is and know how to facilitate this to achieve results.
Ideally you'll have a degree in either electrical, mechanical engineering or science, and you have been honing your skills for a minimum of ten years.
You will have an unrivalled ability to interpret a variety of safety and other regulatory requirements. Knowledge of electrical and gas testing of products would be an advantage.
