The Team: What we do

Our Orthopaedic Outpatient Department cares for patients of all ages covering acute emergency/trauma, follow-up appointments and specialty clinics and provide a variety of services including wound management, casting, splinting and patient education.

The team provides Orthopaedic Acute Care in the new Emergency Department in Waipapa and follow up care in the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department in Christchurch Hospital.

The Role: Where you fit in

This role involves a mix of data entry, general administrative duties and work on reception, answering calls and welcoming patients and whānau. As well as transcription typing and dictations. You will also be responsible for covering staff while on leave, work independently, in addition to opening and closing the department.

Coming from a reception/administration background, your warm and friendly approach, excellent communication skills and ability to confidently deal with a wide variety of people will see you succeed in this role. You will be highly organised and be able to prioritise your busy day along with understanding the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Your skills will include the following:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to relate to patients, their whānau and CDHB staff
  • Attention to detail
  • Organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Able to pick up and use new systems and technology
  • Microsoft Suite Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
